Class B, C, and D Human External Cargo (HEC)
HeliCrane.net specializes in complex external load operations, encompassing everything from standard sling loads (Class B) to precision placement (Class C) and Human External Cargo (Class D/HEC). We provide the platform for linemen, inspectors, and rescue personnel to access work zones that are otherwise unreachable.
Our aircraft are equipped with dual-hook systems and rigorous safety redundancies compliant with 14 CFR Part 133. This allows us to transport personnel safely on the line for power line maintenance, tower rescue, or geological surveys.
Operational Classifications
- Class B (Jettisonable): Standard cargo transport where the load can be released in an emergency.
- Class C (Non-Jettisonable): Wire stringing or operations where the load is in contact with the ground/water.
- Class D (HEC): Transporting personnel externally using approved harnesses and PCDS (Personnel Carrying Device Systems).
- Safety: Strict adherence to height-velocity diagrams and single-engine performance charts.
Rigging & Engineering
Every external load is an engineering challenge. We calculate the center of gravity, aerodynamic drag, and rotor downwash effects for every unique load. We work with certified riggers to design lifting harnesses that ensure the load flies stable and arrives safely.
