Transmission Line Stringing

Power Line Stringing

High-Efficiency Wire Stringing for Power Grids

HeliCrane.net supports major utility upgrades with aerial transmission line stringing. We utilize light-turbine helicopters (MD500, AS350) to pull sock line (pilot rope) through pulling blocks over long distances and difficult terrain. This method is exponentially faster than ground-based pulling and eliminates environmental damage caused by heavy equipment tracking the Right of Way (ROW).

Our pilots are highly experienced in "side-pull" techniques and working in energized environments (where permitted). We coordinate closely with ground tensioning crews to ensure smooth, consistent pulls that protect the conductor and the structures.

Utility Solutions

  • Sock Line Pulling: Rapid deployment of pilot ropes for distribution and transmission lines.
  • Structure Setting: Heavy-lift setting of H-frames, monopoles, and lattice towers.
  • Insulator Replacement: Aerial work platform support or long-line replacement.
  • Terrain Access: Crossing rivers, canyons, highways, and wetlands without permitting delays.
  • Safety: Strict adherence to IEEE 516 and OSHA 1910.269 standards.

Project Scope

From reconductoring projects to new greenfield transmission corridors, we scale our fleet to the mission. We can deploy multiple aircraft—one for structure setting/material transport and another for wire stringing—to maximize daily production rates.
